Call it “Classroom 4,000,000.0″ if you want to. The more I learn and read about 21st Century Learning the more I feel it really IS a re-branding of “Do whats right for kids in education today.” We have been using technology, web-based applications, tools and lessons, collaborative learning, and much more for years in District 20. It doesn’t need a new name.

Here is one thing I have taken away from “21st Century Learning” so far…

I understand that employers are concerned that new employees have difficulty explaining themselves and making their points clear. Solution: When asking kids for an explanation of their thoughts on how to solve a problem or an approach to solving a problem — hold them to the fire and don’t let them go until you get something that makes sense (or at least you can mostly understand).  That is what I have started doing — I’ll let you know how it works out.

Got a good technology that enhances understanding, recall, and application of mathematics? Great! Let’s use it (let me know when you find one), but don’t give a sweet sounding name like “Classroom 2.0″ and think you’ve come up with something new.
